The British heavyweight repeated his controversial comments about being prepared to “kill” his opponent during a press event in Miami on Wednesday.

The remarks were initially uttered on the previous day when Joshua was questioned if he would hold back against the social media star, responding that “if I can kill you, I'll kill”.

Saturday's contest against the internet personality turned fighter has sparked criticism over safety concerns and the size difference between the two athletes.

Fury Calls AJ a “Disgrace”

Former titleholder Tyson Fury labeled Joshua a “classless loser” for his extreme comments.

But the 36-year-old fighter, explained his stance: “It's my job, we fight. We have a license that permits extreme violence.

“I'm sure many people don't grasp it but this is what my job is. I just enjoy what I do. Whatever happens, happens - as long as my hand is raised, that's what's important, with all due respect.”

He added, “That's just the mindset we have to have as fighters. I'm unsure if other boxers think that way. Perhaps they're a bit more conservative. The way my mind works. When you're in the squared circle, it's a risky thing. Anything can happen.”

“You pray your adversary exits the ring in good health, but if they don't, you still have to go to bed aware you just did your job. It was purely professional.”

Jake Paul's Incendiary Response

Jake Paul, a huge outsider in the fight as a natural cruiserweight, was no less incendiary in his reply.

“This is a contemporary combat sport,” he stated. “I'm ready. I want his strongest punches. I want there to be zero excuses when it's all over. We should kill each other.”

AJ will face Paul, 28, at Miami's arena in a fight many regard as a significant mismatched contest, with some suggesting it should have been sanctioned as an exhibition bout.

The professional contest will be contested over 8 three-minute rounds using standard 10oz gloves, with a specified maximum weight for Joshua.

He Claims He Was “Brought In to Save” The Sport

Despite the graphic language used, the fighter said he has been “called in to save” the sport of boxing.

“They want me to stop the Jake Paul phenomenon and I understand it and that's why I have to carry boxing on my back in this bout,” he concluded.

The news conference also had more humorous exchanges, with AJ laughing as Paul sang ‘London Bridge Is Falling Down’ to him.

The final staredown concluded peacefully, with the underdog striking a odd pose before the champion stayed calm and lightly touched his necklace.

Both Fighters Deny Scripted Allegations

The surreal aspect of this bout has led to questions about its legitimacy, including claims that he may be prohibited from knocking Paul out.

“There's nothing in the agreement, AJ can confirm it. We're going to war,” Paul said.

Joshua, sporting a valuable necklace, jokingly added, “The only thing in the contract that got my interest was the money.”

Paul has stated on his platforms that the fight earnings will be exceptionally high.

Jake Paul first made his name as an online prankster, gathering a massive social media following.

He has never fought anyone of the former champion's pedigree but maintained that his opponent would take him seriously.

“It's a wise move on his part,” Paul commented. “This could potentially be, and will be, the biggest loss of his life.”

A win for the underdog would be perhaps the biggest upset in the sport's history.

It would undoubtedly leave an indelible mark on Joshua's legacy, but the athlete said it would not spell the end.

“I would return again, shake it off,” he remarked. “I'll be headlining again in a year or two. It is what it is. I'm a player in the game.”
